Autodesk Buzzsaw Places First in Survey of Popular Internet-Based Project Collaboration Services
SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2003-- Study Published by ENR Provides Detailed Look into Use of IT Technology, Hardware Systems, Internet and Web-Based Applications within the Design and Construction Sector
In a comprehensive survey of its subscribers, ENR has found that, among design, engineering and construction firms currently using Internet-based project collaboration services, the service that is used more than any other is the Buzzsaw(R) collaboration site from Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK) When asked, "which web-based applications are currently used by your firm?" nearly 40 percent of the survey respondents named the Buzzsaw service, placing the Autodesk solution in front of competing offerings from Meridian Project Systems, Constructware and Citadon. The 2003 ENR Technology Study, which is commissioned annually by ENR and its publisher McGraw-Hill and carried out by Advantage Business Research of New York, provides a detailed view into the kinds of information technology systems and services used within the design, engineering and construction industries.
In other findings within the survey's Use of the Internet and Web-Based Applications section, it was found that Buzzsaw is the most recognizable name among Internet-based project collaboration services. Responding to the query "which web-based applications are you familiar with?" Buzzsaw was named by more than 45 percent of respondents, more than seven percentage points ahead of its nearest rival. In addition, within the survey's Computer Hardware, Software & Peripherals section, Buzzsaw placed second among all project-enabled web site software applications, with roughly 40 percent of respondents reporting that they use the service. The survey was completed on March 18, 2003, which precluded any significant responses on the latest Autodesk Buzzsaw version, which was released the week previous.
"Placing at the top of two of the three categories tells us is that Buzzsaw is one of the most recognizable names in Internet-based project collaboration services in the industry," said Amar Hanspal, senior director, Autodesk Building Collaboration Services. "We strongly believe that as more and more firms standardize on Buzzsaw, our popularity and leadership will continue to increase."
