Autodesk Completes Acquisition Of CAiCE Software Corporation; CAiCE Will Serve as the Core of the New Transportation Group Aimed at the Public and Private Sector

Sep 27, 2002
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Sep 27, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK), the leading design software and digital content company, today announced it has completed the acquisition of CAiCE Software Corporation, a Florida-based developer that specializes in providing innovative survey, construction, and highway design software solutions to Departments of Transportation (DOT's) and their consultants. The deal closed September 26, 2002. Autodesk also announced that it has formed the new Transportation Group within the Autodesk GIS Solutions Division.

The new Transportation Group builds on the strength of CAiCE's expertise to focus on delivering powerful visualization, survey, design, and workflow capabilities specific to highways, airports, railroads, and other transportation agencies and consultants in the public and private sector. Alan Akman, former CEO of CAiCE Software Corporation, who was named Director of Industry Marketing -- Transportation following the acquisition, will lead the group.

"Having a single set of design data that flows across the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of transportation projects is very important to large transportation agencies," said Larry Diamond, vice president of the GIS Solutions Division at Autodesk. "Since we announced the acquisition, the feedback from customers has been extremely positive. They understand the value of combining CAiCE's transportation software with Autodesk's civil engineering and GIS applications to increase efficiency, cut costs, and expand the workflow to include the planners, engineers, and consultants."
