Autodesk Introduces Software for Developers to Create High-Quality, Cost-Effective Applications
Autodesk RealDWG 2006 Provides Affordable Foundation for Superior Software Application Development
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., June 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In response to developer demand, Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK) today introduced Autodesk RealDWG 2006 technology for application development. Autodesk RealDWG 2006 (formerly ObjectDBX) enables third-party application providers to develop and market products that read and write leading design data formats AutoCAD DWG and DXF. Autodesk RealDWG 2006 delivers the highest reliability and fidelity on the market, and is fully compatible with Autodesk's best-in-class products, including AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor Series, Autodesk Revit Building, Autodesk Architectural Desktop, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Map 3D and AutoCAD LT. New pricing and licensing terms make Autodesk RealDWG 2006 an attractive development foundation for millions of users who create, manage and share design data seamlessly with extended project teams in the building, manufacturing, government, utilities and infrastructure sectors.
"We anticipate that Autodesk RealDWG 2006 will allow us to address our customers' DWG processing requirements in a much more comprehensive way," said Joe Mooring, vice president, PLP Digital Systems, Inc., which develops software for companies to produce, manage, distribute and track technical documentation. "The third-party DWG libraries we've used in the past have not kept pace with Autodesk's release schedule, nor have they provided the high degree of fidelity that our customers now demand. By leveraging Autodesk RealDWG 2006 within our PlotWorks software suite, our reprographics and AEC customers will achieve high-speed, high-fidelity output from DWG files."
Autodesk RealDWG, built on the native DWG libraries from AutoCAD software, minimizes the risks of design document corruption or errors in drawing files, and assures application developers that their products will produce true DWG 2004 and DWG 2000 formats. Products using Autodesk RealDWG will enable users to share drawing files with confidence even if project team members have not upgraded to the latest release of Autodesk software. Autodesk RealDWG also features new streamlined terms and cost-effective pricing that make it easier and more affordable for application vendors to capitalize on the latest AutoCAD DWG technology as soon as it's available, and ultimately, market their products competitively. Autodesk RealDWG uniquely incorporates robust Microsoft .NET application development tools, opening up new market opportunities for the worldwide community of .NET developers.
According to John Sanders, vice president, Autodesk Platform Technology Division, "As sales of Autodesk software continue to grow and drive creation of millions of DWG files around the globe, the last thing application developers need to worry about is whether the foundation of their products is solid and up to date. A cost-effective development platform, Autodesk RealDWG 2006 opens up new business opportunities for these developers to help customers take advantage of their design data for more accurate and efficient business operations."
