CANNES, France, Feb 20, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Autodesk Location Services, a division of Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK), today announced it has been elected to the management board of the Location Interoperability Forum (LIF) Ltd. Founded in 2000 by Ericsson (ERICY), Motorola (MOT) and Nokia (NOK) to advance the worldwide deployment of location-based services, the LIF focuses on developing global interoperability between different location technologies and applications, while also defining standardized parameters for mobile operators to test location-based services.

"We are privileged to be chosen for our expertise in LBS and to join the leadership of the LIF in advancing this burgeoning market," said Joe Astroth, executive vice president, Autodesk Location Services. "We are committed to supporting the LIF in establishing the standards and interoperability measures that will accelerate the growth of the industry."

Autodesk Location Services offers wireless operators and enterprises a comprehensive solution for location-based services, including the Autodesk LocationLogic application development platform, the Autodesk Location Connect suite of applications, and content integration and management tools. Autodesk Location Services solutions are designed to help operators react quickly and competitively to market conditions and drive new revenue opportunities through location-sensitive wireless data services.

    About the Location Interoperability Forum
The Location Interoperability Forum, a global industry initiative, was formed jointly by Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia in September 2000 with the purpose of developing and promoting common and ubiquitous solutions for Mobile Location Services (MLS). The LIF recommendations will be network protocol and positioning technology independent. Location-based services will allow mobile users to receive personalized and lifestyle-oriented services relative to their geographic location. Mobile Location Services are predicted to become one of the most compelling value-added services, allowing wireless appliance users to combine mobility with the Internet. More than 100 organizations have already joined LIF. For more information, visit www.locationforum.org.
