Autodesk Manufacturing Division Honored With Cadalyst Magazine's Prestigious All-Star Award

May 29, 2002
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., May 29, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Autodesk Inventor Software Recognized for Outstanding Support of Legacy 2D Data and Exceptional Large-Assembly Performance

Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK), the world's leading design software and digital content company, today announced that Autodesk Inventor software won Cadalyst Magazine's All-Star Award for the third consecutive year. The magazine's editors chose Autodesk Inventor for its unmatched support for legacy 2D data in DWG files, its ability to easily handle very large assemblies, and its new tools for sheet-metal and machine design. This is the third industry award Autodesk Inventor has won in the United States in just three months, and brings its total to nine industry awards in the U.S., including the "Best of the Best" by the Silicon Valley AutoCAD Power User's Group and two "Editor's Choice" awards from CADENCE Magazine.

Cadalyst editors specifically cited the software's adaptive technology, which is unique to Autodesk Inventor, as a key customer benefit, noting that it "... lets users create complex relationships using geometry, rather than specifying complicated parameters or equations. This not only makes it easier to create the model, but much easier to edit." Adaptive technology helps customers reduce design time and get products to market faster by optimizing the way they work.

Autodesk Customers Reap the Benefits of 3D Design
Customers such as Vacuum Technology Incorporated, Hardinge, Allied Systems Company, Pacific International Tool & Shear, Taylor Dunn Corporation, and Big Dog Motorcycles, each representing different segments of the manufacturing industry, have recognized performance and productivity benefits of Autodesk Inventor 3D technology.

"The 3D capability of Autodesk Inventor helps us better envision and define our designs before we build than we could ever do in 2D," said Dwayne Haskell, project manager at Vacuum Technology Incorporated, a designer and manufacturer of customized helium leak testing systems, calibrated leak standards, gas analysis systems, and vacuum systems and components. "We are getting more detailed, thought-through designs with Autodesk Inventor and our cost savings are realized with the reduced shop rework."

"Autodesk is committed to delivering a complete manufacturing solution that helps our customers boost productivity and innovation, stay competitive, and, most importantly, reduce time to market," said Buzz Kross, vice president of the manufacturing division at Autodesk. "Receiving recognition from a leading industry publication like Cadalyst Magazine is further proof of the value and powerful functionality Autodesk Inventor provides customers."
