RAM Structural System to Be Linked to Revit Structure; Increases Ability to

Conduct Multiple Structural Analysis on Single Building Information Model

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK) today announced that RAM International, a leading structural analysis software provider, will integrate RAM Structural System with Autodesk Revit Structure software, built specifically for building information modeling (BIM). Revit Structure automatically updates design files with materials analysis results and enables structural engineers to coordinate changes seamlessly with members of an extended project team. By adopting BIM, teams can more effectively create, manage and share building designs, realizing ideas for building design and structural performance.

"We are very excited about linking our engineering analysis and design software with Revit Structure," said Mike Markovitz, President, RAM International. "Our customers tell us that they see BIM as the best way to increase productivity and collaboration in the building and design industry."

Autodesk is now shipping Revit Structure 2, which includes interoperability with Autodesk Architectural Desktop, Autodesk Building Systems, AutoCAD and Revit Building 8.1 software products. Using a single building information model and dynamic linking to third-party analysis applications, such as RAM Structural System, Autodesk Revit Structure increases efficiency, accuracy and design flexibility by integrating and coordinating structural design and documentation. It also minimizes repetitive, labor-intensive tasks and enables more efficient work by supporting concurrent modeling for structural analysis and documentation for multiple materials, including steel, concrete, masonry or wood. The software consistently produces accurate documents using the power of parametric change management, which reduces coordination errors as changes made anywhere are updated everywhere, offering the flexibility to explore design alternatives and changes.

"RAM International is one of the leading providers of structural engineering software and we welcome them as a partner," said Jay Bhatt, Vice President, Autodesk Building Solutions Division. "The bidirectional link between Revit Structure and RAM Structural System will enable our structural engineering customers to have greater flexibility to create their structural designs."
