Autodesk Revit Building 9 Fully Certified for IFC Export
Autodesk Continues Commitment to Industry Standard Data Exchange by Achieving Full IFC2x2 Certification
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., April 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK) today announced the latest milestone in its support for open data exchange mechanisms in Autodesk Revit Building 9, Autodesk's architectural design solution built specifically for building information modeling (BIM). Export of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) data from Revit Building has achieved full certification by the Industry Alliance for Interoperability (IAI) including both the IFC2x2 Code Checking View and IFC 2x2 Coordination View certifications. Fully certified IFC Export from Revit Building will expand the ability of architects and designers to create, manage and share building data with other team members in the building design process, including The Integrated Plan Checking Systems from Singapore's Building and Construction Authority, and will also enable compliance with U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) IFC delivery requirements.

"IFC export from Revit Building will allow architects, designers and other industry professionals to realize their ideas and further improve productivity across the building industry" said Jay Bhatt Vice President, Autodesk Building Solutions. "We plan to continue our quest for further IFC certification by submitting for stage 1 and stage 2 IFC import certification within the next year."
As part of the certification process, Autodesk conducted an IFC pilot with several customers in Singapore and provided the IAI with project data from actual Revit Building projects as test samples for future IFC certification. These projects include a high-rise residential development project from Surbana's International Consultants Pte Ltd, and Team Design Architects Pte Ltd's two-story bungalow at Cable Road.
The certifications of exporting IFC data from Autodesk Revit Building is the latest example of Autodesk's commitment to supporting open, standards- based data exchange mechanisms in its products. These mechanisms currently include DXF, DWF, XML, ODBC, gbXML, and LandXML. Autodesk has played an active role in industry standard-setting bodies including STEP and IGES and is a founding member of the IAI. IAI certified support for IFCs is currently provided in Autodesk Architectural Desktop through G.E.M. Team Solutions GbR.
