Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK), the world's leading design software and digital content company, announced today that it will present its technology vision for the global building industry, including a preview of Autodesk Architectural Studio 2, at the XXI World Congress of Architecture in Berlin, Germany. More than 10,000 architects are expected to attend this prestigious conference organized by the International Union of Architects (UIA), the world's leading professional association for architects, and hosted by German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who will provide the opening address. A main sponsor of the conference, Autodesk is also exhibiting at the accompanying International Trade Fair for Planning Professions in the Building Sector (PlanCom 2002) from July 22-26, 2002, at Booth #1814 in Hall 18 of the Berlin Exhibition Center. Autodesk Architectural Studio and Autodesk Buzzsaw, an online project collaboration service, will be featured.Phillip G. Bernstein, FAIA, vice president of Autodesk's Building Industry Division, will deliver a presentation at the conference in the International Congress Center auditorium on Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at 6:30 p.m. Central European time. The presentation will focus on building information modeling as a key driver of process transformation in the building industry and will culminate in a demonstration of Autodesk Architectural Studio, a breakthrough digital design environment for freehand sketching and modeling currently available in North America and anticipated for release in Europe later this year.
"Autodesk's presence at the XXI World Congress of Architecture reflects the profound impact of technology on the way we work," said Patrik Schumacher, director and senior architect of the London-based architectural practice of Zaha Hadid, Ltd. "New digital tools have not only empowered us to envision radically different building forms but are also making it possible for us to realize those designs in collaboration with our global building partners."
Schumacher will follow Bernstein's talk on the evening of July 24 with a presentation on the role of digital technology in their firm's design of a new BMW facility in Leipzig, Germany. Both presentations will be broadcast via webcast, and interested individuals may register at www.autodesk.com.
