The companies have collaborated to include Parker component designs directly into the Content Center inside the latest version of Autodesk Inventor, the world's best selling 3D mechanical design software. This Content Center addition will speed design functions for subsequent Autodesk customers while enabling early collaborative relationships between Parker engineers and engineers who select Parker for their designs. To help accelerate innovation across its numerous global locations, Parker has deployed Autodesk Inventor Series and Autodesk Inventor Professional software among their core design tools, and has recently signed a three-year agreement providing access to 800 of its engineers to use the Autodesk software.
"Our relationship with Autodesk holds strategic value for Parker Hannifin because they have invested in understanding our business needs, they consistently deliver to meet our requirements, and they truly understand what it takes to build lasting business relationships," said Bob McAdoo Director of Business Systems, Parker Hannifin.
Autodesk and Parker Hannifin Customers to Benefit from Drag and Drop Libraries
The Autodesk -- Parker Hannifin relationship enables engineers to accelerate design of complex machinery by providing access to Parker components in native Autodesk Inventor format. The Content Center in Autodesk Inventor gives engineers fast and easy access to a unified database of components, simplifying creation, reuse and management of company content. The Content Center makes it simple to drag and drop Parker component designs directly into the designer's model, and provides innovative content management, customization and publishing capabilities for individuals and workgroups. Joint customers in aerospace, automotive, climate and industrial controls, filtration hydraulics, and instrumentation industries will value these easy direct component design and sourcing options.
"Autodesk's ability to deliver a complete solution of best-selling 3D design software, consulting services and global support is our strength in building trusted relationships," said Robert Kross, vice president, Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions Division. "Our mutually beneficial collaboration delivers added value for both companies' customers. Having instant access to Parker Hannifin's component models saves machine designers' time, providing complete 3D data for world-class components with the click of a mouse."
Parker Uses Autodesk Inventor Software to Design World-Class Systems in 3D
For Parker Hannifin, Autodesk Inventor software is among the core tools the company uses in pursuit of its "Winovation" strategy -- keeping ahead of competitors by continuing its 87-year history of innovation. One of its chief goals is to anticipate marketplace needs, and accelerate the development and delivery of quality products. By standardizing on a 3D virtual product development environment where products designed with Autodesk Inventor Series can be shared among all locations, Parker has created a competitive advantage through improved data sharing, design reuse and efficiency.
The company is committed to continuous process improvement in its 3D virtual product development environment. As such they just signed a global purchase agreement with Autodesk spanning three years that will provide a Central Purchase and Deployment Program, Global Network User License Program, Software Subscription Program, Autodesk Consulting Flex-days, Autodesk Courseware, and Autodesk Collaboration Services. This new three-year contract will extend access to 800 engineers for use of Autodesk Inventor software. Additionally Parker has upgraded the majority of its 2D AutoCAD licenses to Autodesk Inventor software for its product design efforts.
"To remain competitive in a global market, manufacturers have to focus on innovation," said Craig Maxwell, Vice President, Technology and Innovation Parker Hannifin Corp. "Autodesk understands this, delivering the products and services that help Parker Hannifin realize critical product designs on a global scale."
