Yachiyo Engineering Adopts Autodesk Civil Design Solution as Company-Wide Standard
Autodesk Civil Design Solutions Improve Efficiencies by Sharing Design Data Across the Lifecycle of Civil Engineering Projects
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Autodesk Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK), the world's leading design software and digital content company, today announced that Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd., one of Japan's largest firms of consulting engineers, planners, architects, and specialists, has adopted Autodesk's 3D civil engineering solutions as its company-wide standard. The company licensed 100 seats of Autodesk(R) software, allowing it to integrate its CAD and GIS data to create, manage, and share critical engineering data throughout the lifecycle of a project. This reduced time and costs that were previously spent reentering and resetting data, and enabled the company to focus on its role as a consulting firm. The integration, including data that marks geographical conditions and surrounding environments, will allow Yachiyo to quickly implement projects by the Japanese government that is aiming to promote the country's digitization.
"Our goal is to transform our business so that our consultants can focus more on increasing efficiencies and reducing costs, rather than spending their time drafting and preparing delivery reports," said Mr. Nakagawa, the President of Yachiyo Engineering. "We are committed to 3D design helping us become more productive and efficient, and offering true value to our customers."
Yachiyo Engineering specializes in the development of Japan's infrastructure through civil engineering projects, ranging from river and flood control facilities; water resource development facilities; traffic and transportation facilities, such as road and railway; and various urban and solid waste management facilities. The company offers services to about 110 countries for every phase of project development from planning and feasibility study through preliminary and detailed design to construction supervision and procurement.
Although the construction consulting sector is still slow to adopt 3D design compared with the manufacturing and building industries, Yachiyo Engineering saw a critical need for the use of 3D design to allow spatial presentations to owners, developers, and residents. For example, the company noted that when planning for solid waste facilities, it needed an analysis of ground water flow based on a 3D geological model, and when designing highways and bridges, it needed 3D visualization to be able to "see" how the designs would affect building structures and landscapes. The company also saw a need for 3D models to help local residents easily understand hazard maps produced by municipalities to indicate tidal waves and floods. To meet these needs, Yachiyo Engineering chose Autodesk(R) Civil Design software to provide analysis features for civil engineering projects and design automation. Yachiyo Engineering will utilize Autodesk(R) Land Desktop software, which integrates smoothly with Autodesk Civil Design, for drafting, mapping, and analysis efficiency and productivity.
"Yachiyo Engineering joins a growing list of companies standardizing on Autodesk's 3D design software," said Chris Bradshaw, vice president of Autodesk's Infrastructure Solutions Division. "Autodesk's civil solutions help increase design and drafting productivity allowing engineers to complete more work, more efficiently."
