SAN RAFAEL, Calif. & KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Mar 26, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

3D Modeling Software Strategic to Growing Market Share for Coil Machine Manufacturer

Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK), the world's leading design software and digital content company, today announced that Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based manufacturer Coil Master Sdn Bhd, has reported that using Autodesk Inventor(R) 3D mechanical design software has decreased by half the time-to-market for its new machines. This achievement helped the company meet one of its key business objectives outlined in 2001 -- to help control costs in the declining economic environment. By developing more innovative machines faster and less expensively, Coil Master also hopes to increase its Asian market share beyond the current 10 percent. Autodesk Inventor software will play a strategic role in that effort.

"One precipitating factor in our decision to go with Autodesk Inventor software was its ease-of-use and single-day productivity," said Mr. Tan Huat Jin, director of Engineering, Coil Master Sdn Bhd. "The design tool is helping us grow even in tough economic times."

Specifically, the Coil Master representative said that Autodesk Inventor software cut the time from conceptualization to the production design from four months to two months. "Our design project costs have been slashed in half, and we are now able to reuse designs, altering only certain specifications and measurements," Mr. Tan explained. "The library tool enabled my team to easily revise designs. In addition, the software lets my team break apart their designs and thoroughly look through each part for specific measurements, and later reassemble them to demonstrate exactly how the proposed machine would function."

Coil Master specializes in the design, fabrication, and assembly of mosquito coil making machines for the Asian market. These coils emit a slow burning mosquito repellant and are widely used in warmer climates. They are more popular in areas where mosquito-transmitted diseases like Malaria are present.
