Increased Workflow Capabilities of Autodesk Buzzsaw Service Provide Building Teams with Real-Time Project Management
Customizable Dashboards Give Project Leaders Automatic and Complete Understanding of All Projects
Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK), the world's leading design software and digital content company, today introduced the latest version of Autodesk Buzzsaw Professional, its advanced online project collaboration service. This service facilitates more effective communication and better management of all project information throughout the entire building lifecycle. The Buzzsaw Professional service incorporates a number of project tracking, task assignment and sophisticated reporting features for active, real-time project management. Project leaders can now track project status on the basis of individual team members and generate reports to leverage critical information and deliver valuable insight into multiple building projects. Buzzsaw Professional addresses the specific needs of building owners to help reduce cycle times and errors, and increase team accountability and control. In an effort to support global companies, the Buzzsaw service is available in German, Japanese and Korean languages. The new features of the Buzzsaw Professional collaboration service help all team members -- building owners, architects, engineers and contractors -- promote precise communication and more efficient project management, regardless of location or time zone. With its new "dashboard" architecture, the Buzzsaw Professional service provides Dynamic Project Intelligence -- comprehensive, up-to-the-minute insight into the status of all project elements and initiatives. For instance, a design professional in New York can get an overview of all meeting minutes, facility managers at headquarters can track work orders from multiple building projects, and construction managers at the project site can get a report of information requests and determine whether or not requests have been resolved. In addition, the Buzzsaw Professional service's Action Items and Task Assignment features enable project members to assign task forms to other project members, and then track the ongoing progress of the form through "ball-in-court" logs.
"For owners, the most difficult aspect of managing multiple design and build projects is tracking the status of dozens of tasks and issues that must be dealt with every day," said Amar Hanspal, senior director of Autodesk Building Collaboration Services. "The new features built in to Buzzsaw helps ensure that every team member knows exactly what they are responsible for at any given moment during the entire project lifecycle. Buzzsaw Professional's workflow capabilities are a breakthrough for owners and developers who manage multiple ongoing projects."
Autodesk Buzzsaw Professional Dashboards for Active Project Management
Helping project leaders to more effectively manage and guide their team, the Buzzsaw Professional collaboration service's project dashboards provide access to up-to-date summaries of project activity. Users can choose from standard or customizable formats. In either case, dashboards enable users to quickly drill down on action items to respond quickly, navigate to active projects, and access a wide variety of information:
-- Full display of document status, for example with RFIs: total RFIs, open RFIs, overdue RFIs, and assigned items in tabular and graphical formats -- Project status and exceptions -- Filtered summaries -- Full project reports -- External web data sources through customization (e.g. Microsoft Project 2002 Server) -- Easily archive or export data for integration with internal systems Personal Action Items
With increased workflow functions, the Buzzsaw Professional service now gives team members the tools to create and assign action items. Automatically tracked in a central log and displayed in reports, these items can be viewed in a variety of ways: by individual, by item type or status. To respond to items, or to send out reminders, the user simply clicks on the form and uses the familiar Microsoft Outlook-style browser features.
Site-Level and Project-Level Reports
The Buzzsaw Professional service now provides the ability to generate site-wide reports that summarize issues across all projects. Standardized reporting templates make it easy to gain insight into common functions, while customized reporting capabilities can help users to produce detailed project accounts to meet specific data reporting requirements.
Autodesk Buzzsaw Standard
Autodesk Buzzsaw Standard customers who have not yet upgraded to the Buzzsaw Professional service will also benefit from a number of solution upgrades. Among the new features added to both platforms are an improved permissions matrix that allows site administrators to quickly view and change permissions for individual team members; a Cloning feature that enables administrators to copy a complete project to another project folder within a site; and integration of the latest Autodesk Design Web Format (DWF6) for viewing design drawings.
